Being able to learn from your failures also stems from embracing every challenge that is thrown at you. Many times, you will fail with the challenges that are thrown at you. You need to remember that each and every last one of them are building blocks. Just as Wayne Gretzky once said, “You will miss 100% percent of the shots you don’t take.” You will make mistakes and fail, but it’s important to use these losses as a minor bump in the road. You will never be great in International Sales if you never fail. You need to know what it’s like to be at the bottom.
3. Surround yourself with the smartest people around
If you surround yourself with the smartest people you can, then you will only better yourself. Just as your parents and adults told you when you were younger, surround yourself with the right people. In this career, you need to surround yourself with the smartest people so you won’t be stuck at the same place as always. This will allow you to have new ideas, take new experiences from them, and learn the right things to do in this field.
4. Learn from the people that were in your place before
Branching off from surrounding yourself with the smartest people, you should know to learn from the people that walked the same path you did before. If you want to grow as a Sales Representative and as a person, you need to learn from the peers before you. They may have had different experiences before you but you all want to end up successful in this career. You can use this information to sharpen yours skills and become something amazing .
5. Put in the extra time to be prepared for your meetings and calls
Putting in the extra time to prepare will take you so much father in this career path. It can make the difference from you making a million dollar deal or losing the deal. You can think of it like this, there are many competitors who are trying to be in the same spot as you. The difference is who puts in more time to prepare. This is the deal breaker that sets people apart in sales and especially in International Sales.
6.Listen to your past sales recorded calls
This will come after each person or client you talk to. Listen to your calls and see the benefits and negatives from it. This will allow you to grow and be able to correct the mistakes that you might have made. Although, you will be able to learn things from people who were in the same position as you before, you will get the most benefit from learning from what you have done. Then the next time you are put in that same situation, you will be able to handle better than before.
7. Put in the work to be the best you can be
This combines everything that has been brought up before. You need to put in the work to be the best. There is no sliding by when it comes to being in International Sales. You need to be put in the extra effort to see different out comes. If you don’t do this, then you will being doing the same old things over and over again expecting the same result. This is something you need to know for life as well. What sets you apart from the average person, is the work you put in to be the best.
8. Don’t sells things that aren’t interesting to you.
Never sells things that don’t interest you. It will be very bad in the long run. This is because the lack of interest that will comes from it. The best people in sales are the people that are interesting and like the product they are trying to sell. The people who aren’t interested will not have the same genuine excitement as if you did. You may be with a company for a very long time and it’s crucial to care what about what you are doing. It’s a very demanding job and you will eventually fall of if you aren’t invested in what you are selling.
9. Have a goal in mind
One of the most important things when being a International Sales Representative is to have a goal in mind. Everyone starts off somewhere and it’s important to know what direction you want to be headed. If you don’t know where you want to be by the end of your career, then you will just be living a scattered life. You will never be able to make it to the end and it will take you twice as long to accomplish tasks. Having a clear structured goal will be benificial because it will always keep you motivated and looking to be the best.
10. Never take shortcuts or the easy way out
This is probably the most important thing when in International Sales. Never take the easy route because you are just cheating yourself. You may accomplish a short goal but you will never truly feel accomplished. It will create bad habits as well if you start trying to take the easy way out. You will end up putting things off until the end and it will eventually lead to a downhill spiral.
