This career requires you to be represent companies on a global scale, develop relationships with people you meet because they could become potential customers, and sell services and products. You first have to have be a go getter with a eager drive who will seek new customers who need or want new products and sales. You also have to keep connections with existing customers while increasing product sales. Next, you have to be creative and witty. You have to focus on finding new customers in a unusual way that makes you stand out and when you do find these customers, you have to be be able to have the negotiation skills to pull them in to your company. That’s where the wittiness comes in.
Another skill that is needed is to learn another language fluently. This will give you the upper hand when traveling over seas.”If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart.” You also need to have a strong sense of judgment. This will come in hand when you are making big decisions that are detrimental for the company. The next two skills that are needed aren’t skills that you already have but are acquired through the experiences while starting to get into this career. This is being able to communicate effectively to across different cultures. After traveling across seas, you will meet people from all different walks of life that grew up very different then the life you live. It’s important to see how this person acts and how they communicate with one another. If you are able to get good a this, it will lead into the negotiation skills. These aren’t any normal negotiation skills but they are more adapted to the people in whatever country that you are in. Just a little insight into this job.
You have to be good at problem solving and be able to think quick on your feet. There will be time to plan things, but there is a lot of it that is going to be on the sport. You won’t know the reaction someone will give you when you try to sell or advertise a product. So it’s very important to know how to deal with certain situations and have to problem solve fast. This could a be a game changer from you making a million dollar deal to having it slip through your fingers.
